Veterans in Yountville Veterans Home to Enjoy Visiting with the Oakland Raiders Event: On one of their rare off days during training camp, members of the Oakland Raiders football team will once again visit the Veterans Home of California, Yountville to spend time with the Home’s residents. “We welcome the Oakland Raiders once more to our beautiful Veterans Home,” said Robin Umberg, CalVet Undersecretary for Veterans Homes. “The time our veterans spend visiting with members of the Silver and Black is truly memorable for them, plus it gives them stories they can share with loved ones.” Date: Monday, August 20, 2012 Time: 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM Place: Main Dining Room Veterans Home of California, Yountville 100 California Drive Yountville, CA 94599 Who: Oakland Raiders Team Members Additional Information: The Oakland Raiders have won three World Championships and have claimed the Vince Lombardi trophy in Super Bowls XI, XV and XVIII. Nineteen wearers of the famed Silver and Black have been selected for the Pro Football Hall of Fame including owner Al Davis. The Raiders will kick off the franchise’s 53rd season of professional football competition versus the Dallas Cowboys at O.co Coliseum in Week 1 pre-season action on August 13th. The Oakland Raiders travel to Arizona to take on the Cardinals in Week 2. The Silver and Black return to Oakland to host the Detroit Lions in Week 3 action on Saturday, August 25th. In the pre-season finale, the Oakland Raiders travel to Seattle to face the Seahawks in Week 4. The Raiders open the 2012 NFL regular season in prime-time for the sixth time in eight seasons when the Silver and Black host the AFC West San Diego Chargers on September 10th in the second half of the ESPN Monday night doubleheader. The Raiders then travel to Miami to face the Dolphins on September 16th before hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers at O.co Coliseum on September 23rd. The Raiders close out the first quarter of the 2012 regular season at Denver versus the Broncos on September 30. Founded in 1884, The Veterans Home of California -Yountville is the largest veterans’ home in the United States, offering residential accommodations with a wealth of recreational, social, and therapeutic activities for independent living. Some 1,100 aged or disabled veterans (both men and women) of World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Desert Storm, and Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom currently live at the Veterans Home.
