National K9 Veterans Day, intended to honor the loyalty and sacrifices of U.S. military working dogs, is celebrated on March 13th every year.
The USO recently created the Military Virtual Programing (MVP) events series as a way to engage with military families during the COVID-19 pandemic. MVP programming provides virtual base visits for Service Members to engage in discussions and enjoy performances. Every session is available live or on demand from anywhere you can find an internet connection.
Over the past few weeks, professional, collegiate, and Olympic athletes have been a part of the USO MVP Champions Series, and military families have the opportunities to ask the athletes questions via Zoom. The Champions Series runs through Saturday, March 12th, and there are still some heavy hitters left on the roster! Click the links below for MVP online registration.
Nick Saban – March 10th, 2:30 PM
Magic Johnson – March 11th, 1:00 PM
Rob Gronkowski – March 12th 1:00 PM
The MVP schedule isn’t complete after the Champions series comes to a close. Military Service Members can continue to engage with interesting topics and famous presenters. MVP Series sessions cover everything from how to build a Federal resume, to Coffee with author Samantha Busch, to Q&A with actor Jonathan Tucker of Debris. New sessions are added regularly, so check back with the USO often.
Once you’ve registered for your session, submit your video question here.
Want to catch up on sessions you may have missed? They’re all available on demand. And if virtual programming isn’t your thing, there are nearly 250 additional USO events and programs available for military families. They truly have something for everyone!

The Veterans Health Administration Innovation Ecosystem (VHA IE) recently launched a program to help veterans manage their health and fitness during the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligible veterans (and their caregivers, including VA staff) who currently use a Fitbit device can access many of Fitbit’s paid programs at no cost. The goal of the Veteran Fitbit program is to help veterans manage stress, improve sleep, and increase physical activity.
10,000 eligible veterans and caregivers were the first to receive a 1-year membership to Fitbit premium. This gives them access to guided workouts, mindfulness practices, a wellness report, and a health dashboard. They’ll also have access to personalized fitness coaching and health guidance.
The goal of the VA Fitbit initiative is to build a strong community focused on improving heath and wellness by using today’s wearable technology. Over time the VA hopes to advance the way in which they are able to support veteran fitness and wellness goals.
The initial program reached its maximum number of participants early in 2021; however, those interested may request to receive additional information on the VA Fitbit Program when it becomes available. Visit the VA program page on Fitbit’s website to sign up for this mailing list.
In the meantime, veterans can also take advantage of additional VA health and wellness initiatives such as Women Veterans Health Care, tobacco treatment options, and the MOVE Weight Management Health Promotion Program.

Their tours include music, comedy, theater, dance, sports and magic acts.
While AFE remains committed to providing active-duty service members, and their families, unforgettable entertainment while stationed overseas, COVID-19 has required that they make some changes to their 2021 plans.
