Military Connection: CR England Top Vet Employer: By Debbi Gregory

In today’s job market, many Veterans are having difficulty finding a foothold and establishing their post-military careers. Many employers are overlooking the experience and train-ability of military Veterans. As a result, many Veterans are finding that they must take dead-end jobs in order to make ends meet. But this does not have to be the case.

C.R. England is one employer making a point to hire Veterans and celebrate their service. MilitaryConnection.com has already sung the praises of C.R. England’s “Honored Veteran” trucks. These rigs are driven by C.R. England drivers who previously served in the military, and have established themselves as stellar civilian employees. The cabs and trailers are painted with patriotic themes, including an airbrushed American flag waving, depictions of saluting service members, but most importantly, the words “Honored Veteran” painted above the cab for everyone on the road to see.

C.R. England unveiled five new “Honored Veteran” trucks on Veterans Day, bringing the total to ten such rigs. C.R. England has vowed to commission five additional “Honored Veteran” trucks each Veterans Day.

Two of the “Honored Veteran” trucks and their Veteran drivers have already been assigned to deliver Christmas wreaths, to be placed on military headstones, for Wreaths Across America at locations in San Diego and Miramar on December 13, 2014.

This past November, at the C.R. England corporate offices in Salt Lake City, UT, C.R. England Chairman Dan England signed a Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve, which states the company’s commitment to championing Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). By signing the Statement of Support, C.R. England pledges to:

  • Fully recognize, honor and enforce the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act (USERRA).
  • Provide managers and supervisors the tools they need to effectively manage those employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve.
  • Appreciate the values, leadership and unique skills service members bring to the workforce, and encourage opportunities to hire Guardsmen, Reservists and Veterans.
  • Continually recognize and support our country’s service members and their families in peace, in crises, and in war.

For its dedication to military and Veteran employees, C.R. England has been recognized with prestigious state and national awards. The company received the George E. Wahlen Veterans Award, the American Legion’s “National Award,” was selected as an Elite Military Employer by GI Jobs, and MilitaryConnection.com’s “Veteran Employer Salute”.

As an employer truly devoted to its employees who are Veterans or members of the Guard and Reserves, C.R. England has a team dedicated to advocating and providing for their military and Veteran employees. This staff provides information about becoming a C.R. England employee. C.R. England offers exclusive “ZERO TUITION” programs for Veterans to become licensed Class-A CDL drivers. The company also provides Veterans with a promising career, with room for upward advancement as supervisors, sales, recruiting, and even opportunities to go into business for themselves as owners of their own rigs.
