Active Duty & Veteran Podcasts

If you’re looking for a little more insight into any aspect of military or veteran life, there are quite a few podcasts you’ll want to add to your list. Below, we’ve rounded up podcasts focused on various angles of military and veteran life.

Home Bound Veteran: Home Bound Veteran is a podcast documenting the transition stories of veterans from military service to civilian life. The purpose is to provide a platform for veterans to tell their transition stories to give hope to other veterans facing the same transition, and shed light on some common thoughts and feelings surrounding this challenging process.

Mentors for Military Podcast:  Each week, this show — run by 18 different military veterans — brings in guests to inspire listeners focused on a growth mindset. From special forces to Army Rangers, each episode brings to life the real stories behind real-life military experiences. The Mentors for Military Podcast offers great insight into various angles of service life for anyone who is curious about the military lifestyle.

Mind Of The Warrior: A self-improvement podcast that explores the warrior mindset to win on the battlefield, sports arena, or in the boardroom. Hosted by former Special Forces Operator and MMA fight doctor Mike Simpson.

SOFREP Radio: The show is hosted by former Navy SEAL Sniper Brandon Webb and Army Ranger/Green Beret Jack Murphy. They discuss foreign policy, modern warfare, terrorism, politics, and more. The podcast also features guests from the military, intelligence, and special operations communities.

Team Never Quit Podcast:  Every week, retired Navy SEAL and Lone Survivor Marcus Luttrell brings on guests — like Vice President Mike Pence —  to chat about their “never quit” stories. Every episode is developed with this mission in mind: “Our commitment is to honor those who have fallen, stand with those who have survived, and share their stories that we might inspire others to Never Quit.” Overall, the Team Never Quit Podcast focuses on the hardcore loyalty and dedication that is a common thread among those who serve and have served in the U.S. military.

Veterans Chronicles: Veterans Chronicles is an hour-long program that tells the stories of America’s greatest heroes in their own words. Featuring interviews with eyewitnesses to the great, and tragic, moments in military history. Veterans Chronicles is history told from the perspective of those who were there. Included in each show are archival recordings, which take listeners back to a time when heroes were made.

Women of the Military Podcast: Amanda Huffman, an Air Force vet, hosts the Women of the Military podcast by bringing her unique experience as a former officer and military spouse to listeners. She exclusively interviews female active duty service members and veterans who share the unique perspective of serving in the military as a woman. Her past guest roster list includes a former Air Force nurse, a former Secretary of the Air Force, and a U.S. coast guard officer, among others.

Military Spouse & Family Podcasts

Life in the military certainly isn’t just about the one serving actively. Military life has an impact on the entire family, spouses and children alike. We’ve rounded up some podcasts on various aspects of life for the military spouse and family that you may want to add to your rotation.

For the Sake of the Child: The For the Sake of the Child podcast talks with military service members, professionals, parents, and military kids about topics relevant to those who provide a convoy of support to military-connected children. The goal for the podcast is to not only share information and resources, but also build connections through shared experiences, real life scenarios and stories.

Adrianna Domingos-Lupher, Michelle Volkmann, and Jessica Hall host the show and Amy Bushatz reports on the news from Military.com. From week to week, the hosts focus on a wide range of topics with a sense of humor that will keep you informed and entertained.

The host, Corie Weathers, is a licensed professional counselor who has spent the last 20 years specializing in women’s issues, PTSD, marriage, divorce, and substance abuse. If you’re interested in serious topics that service marriages deal with on a daily basis, the Lifegiver Podcast is for you.

Male MilSpouse Radio Show: This show is a two-hour web-based call-in radio show hosted by Dave Etter, veteran and the 2016 Armed Forces Insurance Army Spouse of the Year. Etter explores issues affecting male military spouses, financial information, general military discussions. . . and beer recipes.

Milspouse Coffeehouse: Leslie and Britni of Milspouse Coffeehouse Podcast are your BEST Milspouse girlfriends in your head. They are the girls that you hope you meet at your new duty station.
