What is an Overseas Tour Extension?

Bonuses are paid to those enlisted personnel who extend their duty tours of duty overseas and these amounts are subject to taxes unless th enlisted service member re-enlists in a designated combat zone. There are four options for those service members who extend for a minimum of one year and they include:

  • All services with the exception of the Navy offer a lump sum payment of up to $2000.
  • An additional $80 in monthly pay for each extra month overseas
  • 30 days extra of R & R
  • 15 days extra of R& R in addition to government paid, round-trip air fare to the United States
