Don’t Forget the Military Wives!

Hi, my name is Kathryn and I blog at www.singingthroughtherain.net. I started my blog in 2009 and since then it has turned into a way to encourage mothers and military wives and also to cope with the stresses of military life and life’s trials in general. I am passionate about blogging about military life mainly because I am a military wife and because so many military wives are in need of encouragement.

Before I became a military wife, I knew nothing of military life and deployments. I was lost in my own little world and knew nothing about the war, nor had really thought about the sacrifices that had been made, past or present. Once I became a military wife, I learned so much about the military and the many men and women who are fighting for our country. I grew to know the families, and especially the military wives.

I realized I loved this life and I loved these military families. They had all sacrificed so much and gone through so many ups and downs. I met the wife who had gone through 7 deployments, and the wife who had labored 36 hours while her husband watched from a TV in a tent in Afghanistan. These women were incredible, had incredible strength, and deserved a place where they could find encouragement and rest.

So my blog became that place, for me and for them! I blogged all through my husband’s deployment – my thoughts, good and bad. I offered suggestions of ideas to do during deployment. I also run a series called “Dear Deployment” where wives can write letters and they are posted on my blog for others to read and get encouragement from. They gain reassurance from knowing that they are not alone.

If you are a military wife or military family, thank you for what you and your military member do. There are so many people who care about YOU! And if you are in need of a little encouragement here and there, check out my post: Encouragement for Deployment. You do so much, you deserve a little respite and encouragement too!
