Q.I work at an assisted living facility, and the veterans in this facility are interested in the Veterans History Project.

How can I help them find out about the program?

A. First, thank you for helping our veterans. The Veterans History Project was created by the Library of Congress to honor our veterans and to allow them to share their stories with current and future generations.

We are fortunate in Ventura County to have a local videographer, Keith Edward Lynch, who is leading the way on this project. He assists veterans in producing a videotape of their experiences at no cost to the veteran.

Lynch has offered to make presentations about the Veterans History Project to organizations, schools, churches and retirement communities. He can also provide instruction on how to conduct interviews.

Lynch can be reached at 822-4785 or http://www.advantavideography.com.

Q. I used a VA loan to purchase my house many years ago. I have now paid off my loan and would like to purchase another home and still keep the first one. Is that possible?

A. You can use the VA loan for this purpose, but it is a one-time-only benefit.

We will send you the form needed to apply for a new letter of eligibility.

Q. I served in the Navy from July 1999 to July 2002 and did not contribute to the Montgomery GI Bill for education. Will I be eligible for the Post 9/11 GI Bill?

A. You meet the time in service requirements and you served for more than 30 continuous days after Sept. 10, 2001, so you qualify.

The VA Web site, http://www.va.gov has an extensive list of questions about the new bill. At that site, go to benefits, then education, and the location for questions and answers is highlighted.
