To receive the Veteran Friendly Employer Salute, companies must show that they consistently demonstrate positive employment policies towards military personnel, Veterans and Disabled Veterans, and that they have a corporate goal of going the extra mile to hire, retain, and promote them. These companies recognize the contribution these stellar employees make to the productivity and success of their organizations. Often times, these companies will provide programs that provide Guard, Reservists, Veterans and Disabled Veterans with opportunities for advancement, and assist them in remaining competitive in the workplace. These good corporate citizens have gone above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to supporting military members, Veterans, and their families.
The first Veteran Friendly Employer Salute is awarded to Gwinnett County Government in Gwinnett County, GA. Gwinnett views Veterans as logical, preferred hires for staffing their county. Approximately 790 of Gwinnett County’s employees are either Veterans, active duty military or serving in the Reserve. Gwinnett County Government exemplifies the dedication to the Military and Veteran community that all employers should strive for.
