Debbie Gregory will address attendees at “Hire a Vet in Biotech,” a Veteran job event in Ventura County, CA. that is free for Veterans and active duty military.

Military Connection is proud to announce that Founder and CEO, Debbie Gregory, will be a featured speaker at “Hire a Vet in Biotech,” a Veteran job event in Ventura County, CA. The event is part of a partnership between local advocates for hiring Veterans such as Military Connection, major biotech companies such as Amgen, and the Ventura BioCenter. Amgen is one of the largest biotech companies, and is among Ventura County’s leading employers. Amgen will be represented at the event by their Vice President of Human Resources, Ted Bagley, who is also a Vietnam Veteran. The Ventura BioCenter will be represented by its director, Greg Cauchon, PhD; who is also president of Amethyst Life Sciences, Inc.

Ms. Gregory will be speaking as part of the Veteran Services Panel. Her website, MilitaryConnection.com, has been rated by the International Association of Employment Web Sites as a “Top 100 Employment Web Site’ for the last five years. She will be discussing compelling reasons why Veterans make valuable employees in biotech, as well as all industries across the board. Ms. Gregory will be explaining the attributes that Veterans bring to the workplace, as well as the incentives enjoyed by employers who hire Vets.

“In addition to all of the great qualities that Veterans bring to the table, there are substantial tax credits being offered to employers who hire Veterans,” said Gregory. She added, “In addition to those motivators, hiring Veterans is the right thing to do.”

“Hire a Vet in Biotech” will be held November 12th, 2013 in Newbury Park. The event is designed to further honor Veterans by providing them with information on job opportunities in the biotechnical industry, which has a major presence in the region.

Other speakers in the Veteran Services Panel will include Mike McManus, Veteran Services Officer, County of Ventura; JC Oberst, Executive Director, Gold Coast Veterans Foundation; and Kendra Angier, Campus Vice President, University of Phoenix.

Additional speakers at the event will be panelists representing employers in the Biotech community. Amgen’s Ted Bagley is a part of this panel. Also speaking will be Vietnam Veteran, CEO of Global Energy & Technology, and co-founder of the Gold Coast Veterans Foundation, Ron Greenwood.

Along with the panel discussions, there will also be workshops and time allotted for networking. The event should be informative and beneficial for both Veterans and employers in the biotech industry.

The “Hire a Vet in Biotech” event will feature a pre-event workshop for Veterans, beginning at 4:30 pm. The main event starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Ventura BioCenter, located at 1176 Tourmaline Drive, Newbury Park, CA 91320. Tickets are $10, and include wine and appetizers. The event is free for Veterans and active duty military. To purchase tickets or register as a Vet or Sponsor, please visit: https://hireavetinbiotech.eventbrite.com or call (800) 600-7111 x 224.
