COLUMBIA FALLS, Maine and SIMI VALLEY, Calif. — May 9, 2012 — Wreaths Across America and MilitaryConnection.com announced today the launch of a new partnership to educate the public about the service and sacrifice of our men and women in uniform and to promote Wreaths Across America’s annual wreath-laying effort.

MilitaryConnection.com connects viable candidates with the resources necessary to obtain outstanding government, federal and civilian jobs. The website offers the most comprehensive online directory of military resources and information. Wreaths Across America is a nonprofit organization founded to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery begun by Maine businessman, Morrill Worcester, in 1992. Over the years, the effort grew and today encompasses wreath-laying at veteran cemeteries nationwide as well as a national educational effort.

This year National Wreaths Across America Day at Arlington will take place on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012. During the day, thousands of volunteers will place a remembrance wreath and hold a brief moment of silence at each veteran’s head stone — 230,000 in total. An additional 400,000 wreaths will be distributed nationwide to veterans’ cemeteries and memorials in all 50 states and overseas. To fulfill its mission, Wreaths Across America seeks to significantly expand sponsorships and wreath donations by mid-November.

In keeping with the organization’s mission to Remember, Honor and Teach, Wreaths Across America is committed to teaching younger generations about the value of their freedom and the importance of honoring those who sacrificed so much to protect those freedoms. To that end, Wreaths Across America has launched a “Thanks A Million” campaign that will issue free thank you cards that can be personalized for anyone wanting to thank a veteran or active duty service member for their service. The goal is to thank one million veterans and active duty personnel during National Military Appreciation Month in May and another million the remainder of the year.

“According to Karen Worcester, executive director of Wreaths Across America, “Our partnership with Military Connection will help us inform and honor America’s military families, many of whom have served in America’s armed forces through many generations. We want to ensure that we convey a message of the profound appreciation of the American people to veterans across the country.”

“The service and valor of America’s armed forces have helped define our nation,” noted Debbie Gregory, founder of MilitaryConnection.com. “We are pleased to support this effort to honor all of those who wear the uniform and put themselves in harm’s way on behalf of American freedom and democracy.”
