| Can I use the same period to establish eligibility under two programs? For most programs, no. However, you may use the same period of service to establish eligibility for both MGIB-SR (Chapter 1606) and REAP (Chapter 1607). You may only use one benefit at a time, and you will receive a maximum of 48 months of entitlement under any combination of education benefit programs. You cannot use the same period of service to establish eligibility to MGIB-Active Duty (Chapter 30) and any other program (typically MGIB-Selected Reserve (Chapter 1606) or Reserve Educational Assistance Program (Chapter 1607). You must choose whichever program is best for you, and have your period of service count toward one program.
