How do I choose between REAP and MGIB-SR?

First and foremost, you must submit an application for education benefits. Information on applying can be found here:

If you are eligible for both programs, you must choose which benefit you wish to receive. If you are unsure of which benefit to choose, you can find more information HERE

Once you have chosen a benefit, you must notify VA of your choice. To do this:

1. Click on the “Ask a Question” tab at the top of this page
2. Enter your email address
3. Choose the category “Reserve Ed Asst Prog (Ch 1607)(REAP)”
4. Insert a subject into the required field such as “REAP Election“
5. Enter a statement into the next field such as “I choose to receive REAP benefits” OR “I choose to receive MGIB-Selected Reserve benefits”
6. Click the “Submit” button

You will be taken to the next screen which requires you to enter further information. This information is required – we use it to identify you and route the message to the correct VA office. Be sure to enter a “Password” of your choice.

Click on the “Create Account” button at the bottom of the page and you are done. If we have any questions regarding your election, we will contact you via email.
