GI Bill Benefits, Schools For Veterans

Montgomery Gi Bill, Education, Benefits & Schools For Veterans, Gi Bill

What is the Montgomery GI Bill?

How much do you know about Montgomery GI Bill benefits? These are Veteran education benefits that are available to those who entered the military after June 30, 1985, or before January 1, 1977. Few things are as important as education for Veterans because there will come a time for them to transition out of the military and into civilian life. Many schools are perfect for Veterans and the skills they possess, and your military benefits are there for you to take advantage of such educational opportunities.

Each Veteran has a unique skill set as well as unique talents and interests. The great thing about your Montgomery GI Bill benefits is that there are many schools and programs in a variety of different fields that are covered by these benefits. These include:

  • College for Veterans
  • Technical or vocational courses
  • Correspondence courses
  • Apprenticeship/job training
  • Flight training
  • High-tech training
  • Licensing and certification tests
  • Entrepreneurship training
  • Certain entrance examinations

This bill is a wonderful tool for those would otherwise not be able to afford a higher education. It is important to distinguish between the new Post 9/11 GI Bill and the Montgomery GI Bill. The Post-9/11 GI Bill makes direct payments to the schools chosen by Veterans, while the Montgomery GI Bill pays benefits to students, giving them the responsibility of paying for school. The monthly benefit depends on 1) when you entered service, 2) how long you served, 3) type of education you choose, and 4) whether the Service member put extra money (kicker) into their GI Bill (For Montgomery GI Bill only).

No one deserves to have their education paid for more than the brave men and women who serve this country. The Montgomery GI Bill allows them to pursue the educational opportunities close to their heart.
