Yoga proving useful in helping veterans suffering from PTSD

There is never enough we can do to help our veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. In working to help these brave men and women with the state of their well-being, both in the present and moving forward, many have searched for out of the box treatments for PTSD. One such activity that seems to be having a positive effect is yoga. Those who practice yoga regularly know full well its ability to calm the mind and relieve stress and anxiety. These positive effects are a plus for anyone, and are proving to be useful for veterans suffering from symptoms of PTSD. Used in addition to other forms of therapy, yoga is assuming a supporting role in changing the lives of veterans for the better.

The symptoms of PTSD can render those suffering from them unable to function on a daily basis. These symptoms include, among others:

  • Insomnia
  • Social avoidance
  • Nightmares

Yoga has always been a practice that is about soothing the mind, body and spirit.
