New Research Shows Women Vets Earn More Than Nonvets

A recent study analyzing the earnings of veterans seems to indicate that the ratio of earnings of veteran women to non-serving women is greater than the earnings of veteran men to non-serving men. The information was taken from 2005 statistics and shows that veteran women generally earn a yearly average of $4,945 more than women who have never served. For men, that difference is $2,248 per year.

But the salary difference between veteran men and women poses a significant factor in the study. In 2005, veteran men earned about $9,911 more than veteran women. Some speculations on why the salary difference is so drastic have included the fact that the average veteran male is 51 years old while their veteran women counterparts average 43 years old.
