Much More Than a Catchphrase
In the military, the goal is to “Leave No Soldier Behind”. Given all of the sacrifices made by the brave men and women in our Armed Forces, our nation needs to adopt a policy of “Leave No Veteran Behind”. Yes, our nation has economic problems, but the statistic of 27% unemployment for young Veterans is grossly disproportionate in comparison to the national figure of 9.4% unemployment among non-veterans. Unless we take action to make changes, this figure will be on the rise, as more of our troops are withdrawn from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Historically, our veterans have given the American people and the United States Government a blank check for an amount up to, and including, their lives. It is up to us to make good on those checks by providing the resources that will help our veterans and their spouses find employment or entrepreneurial opportunities. In addition to jobs, we owe each and every veteran decent housing, first-class healthcare, and a quality education.
Military Connection, known as the “Go To Site”, was once again named a top 100 Employment Website by Weddles. We promote the hiring of transitioning military, veterans and their spouses because those who have served make outstanding employees in all occupational areas. They are disciplined, have a work ethic second to none, and are the ultimate team players. If all of these qualities weren’t enough, there are attractive tax credits for hiring Veterans. But the bottom line is that it’s the right thing to do.
Let’s all work together to “Leave No Veteran Behind” and make sure they have the opportunity to attain our American Dream that they have sacrificed to protect.
