Military Connection – Gene Thomas Gomulka’s Biography

Gene Thomas Gomulka’s Biography

Gene Thomas Gomulka is the author of The Survival Guide for Marriage in the Military, the Marriage and Military Life inventory, and the eRelationships.us computer program. These interactive tools for dating, engaged and married couples are based upon over 30 years of counseling experience and input provided by hundreds of military and civilian couples, counselors, chaplains and members of the clergy.  His best selling book (now in its second edition), relationship inventory (over 100,000 copies in print), and interactive computer programs are designed to help promote better relationships and marriages while reducing high military and civilian divorce rates, spouse and child abuse, and even suicides that often stem from problematic relationships.

In addition to his marriage publications, he also publishes a weekly column in which he addresses military marriage and family life issues.  The column is carried on a number of military oriented websites including Military Connection.

A native of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, he earned a B.A. in Philosophy from St. Francis University in Loretto, PA and an S.T.L. from the Angelicum University in Rome.  After serving for five years as an associate pastor in State College, PA, the home of the Pennsylvania State University, he completed a 24 year military career as a Navy Chaplain. While serving as Deputy Chaplain, U.S. Marine Corps, he co-authored the core values of “Honor, Courage and Commitment” adopted by the Marine Corps and later embraced by the Navy.  In 1999 the Secretary of the Navy presented him with the Navy League’s “Alfred Thayer Mahan Award” for “literary achievement and inspirational leadership.”

Captain Gomulka’s decorations include the Legion of Merit (three awards), the Meritorious Service Medal (four awards), the Navy Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal and various other service and campaign medals and ribbons. His interests include writing, cooking, skiing and foreign languages (Italian, Spanish, French, German and Polish).
