I am happy to announce that MilitaryConnection.com, the Go to Site, has begun a new hiring initiative called “Hiring America’s Heroes”. With this initiative, we will be ramping up our efforts to help find great jobs for Veterans, separating military,  and their families. We have already received a pledge from one of our clients for over 100 jobs, with training included.  These remote jobs are perfect for wounded warriors, disabled veterans and military spouses. For specific information on these opportunities, click here. We are in the process of obtaining more job pledges, and we will keep you informed through our newsletter.

Also, as March has been designated as Women’s History Month, let us remember the many achievements of women, particularly those that have served in the Armed Forces. Women have always answered the call of their country. Over the years, the role of women in the military has changed, but what hasn’t changed is their character, bravery and spirit. Women have served as nurses, doctors, medics, fighter pilots , MPs and convoy drivers. They have achieved the ranks of General and Admiral. Currently women are joining the active duty, reserve and guard forces at an unprecedented rate. They are the new faces of veterans.

Best regards,

Debbie Gregory, CEO
MilitaryConnection.com

Officials extend
deadline to apply for
'Stop Loss' pay

Officials Extend Deadline

The deadline to apply for Retroactive Stop Loss Special Pay has been re-instated and extended to October 21, 2012. Service members and veterans whose military service was involuntarily extended under the “Stop Loss” program between the 9/11 terrorist attacks and Sept. 30, 2009, are eligible for special retroactive pay. The special pay is compensation for the hardships the involuntary extensions caused, officials said. Eligible members or their beneficiaries may submit a claim to their respective military service to receive $500 for each full or partial month served in a Stop Loss status. Because the majority of those eligible had separated from the military, many eligible service members, veterans and their beneficiaries are not aware of the benefit. Combat-Related
Special Compensation

New Project Aims to Help Veterans

The National Veterans Legal Services Program (NVLSP) has launched a new program through its Lawyers Serving Warriors® project to provide free legal representation to veterans applying for a new federal disability benefit – Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC).

Because Congress believed that veterans who suffer from combat-related disabilities deserve a greater amount of disability compensation, it made veterans who are permanently retired for disability or on the Temporary Disability Retired List (TDRL) eligible for CRSC in 2008.  CRSC can provide a veteran with hundreds of dollars per month in additional tax-free compensation in addition to whatever compensation the veteran may be receiving from the VA or the military.  Lawyers Serving Warriors® will screen information supplied by eligible veterans and, if they qualify, connect them to one of the hundreds of volunteer attorneys who have been trained by NVLSP to represent applicants for CRSC.

To request assistance with a CRSC application, click here.

As part of our new initiative, Hiring America’s Heroes, we wanted to introduce you to America Wants You, an organization that is bringing together the private sector and corporate America to find job opportunities for the brave men and women who have served in the U.S. military. Resources

Attention All Veterans!

There are a large number of websites that provide information on Veterans benefits and how to file and/or ask for them. Accordingly, there are many sites that explain how to obtain books, military/medical records, information and how to appeal a denied claim with the VA. Most of this information is free and available to all veterans, but you have to ask for it. We invite you to look over the list of websites in the event that one or more of them will be advantageous to you. We also recommend that you bookmark the page for future use.
