June is a celebratory month, as we honor Dads and Grads, Brides and Grooms, and our American Flag. June 14th is Flag Day, the 234th anniversary of the resolution John Adams introduced before Congress mandating a flag to represent the United States. Most people know that the stars represent the states, and the stripes represent the thirteen original colonies. Lesser known is the symbolism of the colors-red for hardiness and courage, white for purity and innocence, and blue for vigilance, perseverance and justice. Our flag is the symbol of our nation's strength and unity. It's been a source of pride and inspiration for those who serve and have served our great country, as well as for millions and millions of citizens.

On a personal note, we would like to take this opportunity to wish MilitaryConnection’s own Eric Swain and his fiancée Dessiree the very best for their upcoming June 26th nuptials.

Sincerely,

Debbie Gregory, CEO

PTSD Awareness

PTSD Awareness Day

PTSD Awareness Day: June 27th

June 27th is PTSD Awareness Day, and for the entire month of June, the VA's National Center for PTSD is working to increase PTSD awareness. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can occur after someone goes through a traumatic event like combat, assault, or disaster. Most people have some stress reactions after a trauma. If the reactions don't go away over time or disrupt your life, you may have PTSD. Everyone can help. The more we know about dealing with trauma and PTSD, the more we can help others, loved ones, or even ourselves.
