The spectacle and celebration of our nation's 236th anniversary is now a memory. Along with waving the flag and singing patriotic songs, the 4th of July reminds us of our good fortune to live in the greatest country in the world. The United States is truly the land of the free and home of the brave, and we are all fortunate to live amongst everyday heroes. We are thankful for the brave men and women who serve or have served in the armed forces, our first responders, our healthcare professionals, and ordinary people who do extraordinary deeds.

Best regards,

Short Sale Assistance for Military Homeowners

Short Sale

The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) recently announced short sale assistance for military homeowners with Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac Loans. FHFA Acting Director Edward J. DeMarco announced that military homeowners who receive Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders will be eligible to sell their homes in a short sale even if they are current on their mortgage. Because PCS orders often require quick moves and can create hardship for military homeowners who are underwater on their mortgages, many service members felt their only option was either to maintain financial obligations on two residences or to default on their mortgage. Under the new policy Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will not pursue a deficiency judgment or any cash contribution or promissory note from members of the military with a change in duty station for any property purchased on or before June 30, 2012. Stop Loss Pay
Average Benefit - $3,700!

Stop Loss

Deadline Extended to October 21st - Claim it or Lose it

The deadline to apply for Retroactive Stop Loss Special Pay has been re-instated and extended to October 21, 2012. Service members and veterans whose military service was involuntarily extended under the “Stop Loss” program between the 9/11 terrorist attacks and Sept. 30, 2009, are eligible for special retroactive pay. The special pay is compensation for the hardships the involuntary extensions caused, officials said. Eligible members or their beneficiaries may submit a claim to their respective military service to receive $500 for each full or partial month served in a Stop Loss status. Because the majority of those eligible had separated from the military, many eligible service members, veterans and their beneficiaries are not aware of the benefit. You Deserve a Deal!

Many businesses honor Veterans and Servicemembers by offering discounts on goods, services and dining. Most businesses require some proof of military service, which could be a VA Universal Access Card, Military I.D., DD-214 (Discharge Papers) or in some cases, a picture of the veteran in uniform will suffice. We apologize in advance if you are unable to take advantage of any of the discounts or freebies due to the lack of acceptable I.D., non-participation of your local establishment in their national chain’s programs, etc. The companies are listed here, but we always advise calling ahead for verification.
