We are happy to see that the Administration is making it “Priority One” to take care of our returning troops. Following the announcement of the Veteran Job Corps to create jobs for post-September 11th Veterans, comes the proposal of allocating funds to promote the hiring of Veterans for police departments, fire departments and at national parks. On November 21st, President Obama signed into law Returning Heroes & Wounded Warrior Tax Credits

  • The Returning Heroes Tax Credit is a new hiring tax credit that will provide an incentive for businesses to hire unemployed veterans of $2,400 to $5,600.
  • The Wounded Warrior Tax Credit will double the existing tax credit for long-term unemployed veterans with service-connected disabilities up to $9,600.

Dan Band perform for our troops at over 40 bases annually. On Thursday, March 1st, the Lt. Dan Band will perform in a Benefit Concert for 27 year old Lance Cpl. Juan Dominguez in Temecula, CA. Cpl Dominguez, a triple amputee, was severely injured by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan. The proceeds from this concert will be a key part of the fundraising effort to build a specially-equipped "smart home" in Temecula for Cpl. Dominguez, who has already endured 23 surgeries. Music Therapy

Scheduled to begin March 1, 2012, the Center for American Military Music Opportunities (C*A*M*M*O) is announcing a music therapy service. ”VIBEZ”, a portable listening program, is designed to provide therapeutic support to veterans recovering from the stress and trauma associated from combat. Veterans or their families/caregivers will be able to log on to the C*A*M*M*O website at www.cammomusic.org  to learn more about the program, register, and work with C*A*M*M*O staff to identify preferred music which can then be downloaded onto an MP3 player you send in, or available for a nominal fee.  Scholarships may be available.
