I have always been proud of the role that Military Connection plays in helping Veterans find jobs. I am also proud that we “walk the walk” in that department. I am happy to welcome aboard our two new staff members, Andrew Ayers and Joe Silva, both of whom are Navy Veterans. Andrew, our Marketing and Outreach Intern, served from 1992-2012 as an Aviation Maintenance Administrationman. He is currently attending college on the Post 9/11 GI Bill, majoring in business. Joe, our new Staff Writer, served as an Operations Specialist from 2004-2009, and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English, using the Post-911 GI Bill. To read more about Andrew and Joe, click here. If you are an employer or an institution of higher learning looking to reach the military/veteran audience, please feel free to contact me. And remember, when the next tour is back home, it’s on MilitaryConnection.com, the Go To Site.

Best regards,

Debbie Gregory, CEO

Gary Sinise Foundation

Gary Sinise Aids Fire Department

Our friend Gary Sinise is at it again. Through his foundation, Gary has made a large donation to help the first responders who rescued people and fought the most destructive wildfire in Colorado history. This week, Bob Harvey, the Black Forest Fire Chief, accepted a check for nearly $60,000. The money, from the Gary Sinise Foundation, will replace desperately needed equipment lost this summer, including radios and fire hoses. Gary’s foundation develops programs designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen and build Veteran, military and first-responder communities. A video message from Gary accompanied the check, with Gary saying he was "honored" to present the donation.
